Last week students in Y5-1st grade explored the Early World of Learning website from WorldBook Online. The site is now free through the Michigan eLibrary, and has been added to the Information Place. Students learned about numbers, shapes, time, and more through this awesome website.
This week we kicked off our Mock Caldecott unit with grades Y5-4. We read and discussed books that have won the Caldecott award. The week of Nov. 11, students will begin reading and critically evaluating 16 of the best picture books of 2013. Students will score each book on quality of story and illustration. At the end of the unit, a Mock Caldecott winner will be selected. Click here for more information on the Caldecott Medal.
During the month of November we are celebrating Picture Book Month! We'll be reading and discussing some of the best picture books of 2013 as we begin our mock Caldecott project.
